More about the camp

About the Fall Tip-Off

The Fall Tip-Off is how we open the basketball year in Kelowna. Four days at Kelowna Christian School, August 25 to 28, for boys in Grades 1 through 12. It is built for the week before school starts, when players have had a summer off and want to get their timing back before tryouts and league play begin.

Who it suits

Every grade band trains on its own court with its own coaches, so a Grade 2 player is never stuck in a drill built for a Grade 11 player. Newer players get the fundamentals taught properly from the start. Experienced players get four days of competitive reps against opponents from across the Okanagan, which is hard to find in August.

How the four days run

Each day mixes skill work with real gameplay rather than drills alone. Mornings and afternoons are split by grade so the gym never gets crowded, and the camp finishes with 5v5 tournament play so players end the week competing rather than lining up. Grades 1 to 6 run at 12:30 to 2:30pm on August 25 and 26, then 2:15 to 4:15pm on the 27th and 4:30 to 6:30pm on the 28th. Grades 7 to 12 run at 4:30 to 6:30pm August 25 to 27, then 2:30 to 4:30pm on the final day, August 28.

Guest coach Jadon Cohee

Professional guard Jadon Cohee joins the camp as guest coach for the boys groups. Jadon has played for Team Canada, at the NCAA Division 1 level and at UBC. He leads the Grade 7 to 12 boys sessions on August 27 and every boys session on August 28.

What is included in the $150

One price covers all four days: a reversible jersey the player keeps, professional media content from the week, every skills session, and the tournament gameplay. There are no separate jersey fees or photo packages added later.

Common questions

Does my son need experience? No. Grades 1 to 3 in particular are mostly newer players, and the coaching is built for that. Do I need to stay? No, though parents are welcome to watch. What should he bring? Indoor court shoes, a water bottle, and the jersey we provide on day one. Spots are limited by court space, and the younger grade bands usually fill first.

Girls in Grades 1 to 12 have their own edition running the same week. See the Fall Tip-Off Girls Edition. For the full fall season after camp, see fall basketball registration.
